Abigail’s Footsteps Supply Cold Cots for Hospitals and Hospices in the UK and Ireland
All hospitals and hospices that have a bereavement suite should have a cold cot.
A cold cot is a refrigerated cot that allows parents to spend more time with their deceased baby than would otherwise be possible.
The cold cot helps parents to bond with their baby and aids the grieving process.
The Abi Cold Cot
The Abi Cold Cot is a cold cot produced by Abigail’s Footsteps in partnership with The Bond Group . We have supplied over 50 hospitals and hospices in the UK and Ireland so far.
We recommend every hospital or hospice has at least 2 cold cots.
Cold Cot Donations for Hospitals and Hospices
Hospitals and hospices can receive cold cot donations from bereaved families.
All of our donated cold cots for hospitals will include an engraved plaque, lovingly created by Gravesham Trophy Centre in memory of a family’s loss.
If you would like to be added to the wait list to receive a cold cot donation for your hospital or hospice, please contact us.

Feedback from families and healthcare professionals...
Claire Litchfield | Lead Midwife for Pregnancy Loss, Wexham Park Hospital
“The Abi Cold Cot looks beautiful and is very easy to use for maternity staff, and it is very easy to move around the room. It has become a vital piece of equipment for our unit and we are so grateful to be able to offer parents precious time and space to be with their babies.”
Alice, Mum to baby Scarlett
“First of all I just wanted to thank you so much for starting up Abigail’s Footsteps, you have no idea how grateful myself and my partner was for the set up you have done in Medway Hospital. We stayed there for a night with our little girl Scarlett. Words really cannot describe how much that little bit of extra time we got to spend with our beautiful little girl meant to us. So thank you so much for that.”
Jo Morgan | Labour Ward Co-ordinator, North Devon Hospital
“The Abi Cold Cot is playing a very important part in the bereavement service that we strive to provide and enables parents to spend more time with their baby which is priceless at this difficult time. We are extremely grateful for the generous contributions from our donors.”
Vicky, Grandma to baby Isabella
“We had the privilege of using an Abi Cold Cot, before then we hadn’t heard of them but now to us they are such valuable pieces of equipment that the hospital needs.”
Joanne Unsworth | Bereavement Midwife, Ormskirk and District General Hospital
“We have found the Abi Cold Cot to be beneficial to the families we look after in our bereavement suite. The baby is able to stay with their family for a longer period of time giving them time to grieve and to say their goodbyes. These days are so special to the family and thank you for helping us to achieve this.”
Tara, Mum to baby Mimi
“We had some very precious days with Mimi that we wouldn’t have had without an Abi Cold Cot… It seemed a very fitting tribute to be able to in such awful circumstances, give other families the chance to have that time with their babies that maybe they wouldn’t if the hospitals didn’t have them.”
Mandy Dann | Bereavement Midwife, Nottingham University Hospital
“Thank you for donating the cot to the Queens Medical Centre. It will be invaluable for helping us to care for our families, who will very sadly need to use it.”
