Abigail’s Online Auction

We are delighted to be back for a second year working in partnership with Superstars following the previous success last year. Our online auction launches at the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week on Saturday 9th October. All funds raised from the auction will be used towards The Deafening Silence Part 2 project. The auction will close at 9pm on Sunday 31st October, so do make sure you place your bid before then. Thank you for your incredible support.

Our internationally renowned film ‘The Deafening Silence’ commissioned in 2013 is a raw and arresting drama-based film about a couple who experience the stillbirth of their baby. The 20-minute film is based on real life experiences with the aim of improving bereavement care for parents and to raise awareness of stillbirth.

“We are immensely proud of The Deafening Silence, we have created a beautiful legacy for our daughter Abigail, which has helped train midwives across the country, as well as help families have a better understanding about stillbirth. There is without doubt the need for a second film. If you have seen The Deafening Silence you will get it. If you haven’t seen the film you need to watch it. Either way please help support us create this second, much needed film.” David and Jo Ward, Abigail’s Footsteps co-founders.

Part 2 will be based on a storyline around what happens when bereaved parents return home from hospital and are struggling to deal with the loss of their child. The film will be used to improve primary care support for parents in the longer term following stillbirth, particularly in the areas of follow-up support for intense grief, significant couple relationship issues, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress that may extend into a subsequent healthy pregnancy.

We gratefully received a grant from The Burdett Nursing Trust towards the film and we hope with your support and further fundraising projects we’ll have the full funds secured to produce The Deafening Silence Part 2 in 2022.
